Infinite Justice

Justice, mercy. Mercy, justice. God has them together, yet they are also separate. So what am I saying?
A man robbed a store and was later caught and jailed. He went to court and pleaded his case. He was hungry; so was his family. They were living in the car. The system failed them for one reason or another. He grew desperate and hated seeing his family suffer. He thought the store certainly wouldn’t miss the few things he stuffed into his coat. But it was still a crime against the owner. Justice was called for, but given the circumstances, mercy was also shown. The courts let him off easy and provided the support his family needed.
I was not in friendship with Christ for many years. I didn’t know Him, yet He knew me. The Bible says that when He created me, He knew every detail about me, including the number of hairs on my head! I believe this because one day I looked over my shoulder at the mountain of past sin and told myself I was hopeless, so what was one more sin? I know now that the evil one was there, feeding these thoughts. But God also heard me.
Justice was to come, but God first extended His hand of mercy. He brought influencers into my life to show me there was hope, no matter how deep in sin I was. Mercy moved the mountain of sin from where I couldn’t see it building up to right in front of me, blocking my path forward. I had to change my life if I wanted to move forward. Mercy gave me the tools to clear a pathway. Justice then followed, purifying and detangling me from sin, showing me the necessary reparation, and leading me to accept the trials that came. This was mercy and justice in action. This was the infinite love of God.
I encountered God, who brought me to Him, sanctified me, and gave me new life in Him. It was a rough walk back, but in time, I couldn’t see the mountain anymore.
