Divine Providence orders, disposes, and directs everything toward a well-defined end, primarily 1) the glory of God and 2) the good and happiness of His creatures.
You might hear, off the top of many people’s heads, the exclamation, “What? How can that be with all the suffering, poverty, and wars in the world? What is God possibly thinking?”
The answer is divine Providence. Nothing exists without God’s will, ordered for our good, which is His plan for every creature and for all eternity. Our job is to contribute to the harmony and good of the whole. If we’re not convinced of this, we may be disgraced by this revelation. We may choose to see things through the lens of lost hope and faith.
How many times do we see exactly what another needs, yet they are not only blind to it but also oppose it vehemently? You want the better choice for them, so you usually try multiple ways to help them see things differently. Often we fail, but sometimes they are awakened. God’s divine Providence never gives up. He tries again and again.
God’s divine Providence isn’t limited by our human thinking and reasoning, and it shows us in things like the flowers in the fields and trees on the land. They bend and flow with the wind, but sometimes harden and break off. This, too, could be part of His plan. It’s about trusting in something we can’t see or know. It’s about relying on a superior plan for our life that has a beginning, middle, and end. No one will live forever. Bad things can happen to good people. But God has a better plan for the salvation of our souls. We have to trust in what He sees in the big picture.
Our vision is a drop in the bucket, while God’s is the whole bucket. Do you trust divine Providence even when it’s hard? When we close our hearts to divine Providence, our distrust leads to a lack of confidence and faith.
Believe that God, in His infinite plan of divine Providence, can even work through that.
